Whats in a Name
SEYMOUR carries multiple layers of meaning for Hugh. It’s not only his middle name, shared by his son, his father, cousins and grandfather, but it also embodies the ideology behind our brand. We envision a wine company that isn’t tied to a fixed address, allowing us to explore various regions and source unique varieties that create delicious wines.
This approach gives us the opportunity to collaborate with winemaking friends across Australia and around the world. And, ultimately we hope the community we build over the years will play an integral role in this journey for years to come. Each year we’ll ask our Wine Club members ‘What do we want to drink this year and where should we craft it from?’ - whether it be super light Gamay from somewhere cool, a crunchy Montepulciano from Southern Adelaide Hills, or perhaps a regional Chardonnay from Tasmania.

Starting Something For the Future
In 2019, Hugh and Melanie’s story began in New York City, where a chance meeting at a charming Mexican restaurant under the shade of century-old silver birch trees sparked an instant connection. Their conversation—and laughter—only grew stronger from there, leading them to start a family and ultimately settle in the stunning Barossa Valley, South Australia.
Today, they’ve planted their own silver birch trees just outside their bedroom window, a beautiful reminder of the moment that brought them together. With a shared passion for fine wine and a deep love for their community, Hugh and Melanie are excited to offer wines they cherish to a new audience—bringing joy both to their own journey and to those who share it.
